The first thing to think about is durability. They are produced with glass which has been tempered. While this makes the glass up to seven times stronger than regular glass, they are not unbreakable. Most are thicker than traditional sinks, making it possible to go through your ordinary bathroom routines without worrying about damaging your sink. Those who like the vessel look but are nervous about glass might want to think about purchasing a porcelain vessel sink instead.
Your second consideration should be size. The most common size is about twenty inches in diameter and around eight inches deep. Check out the space available in your bathroom to determine whether it can accommodate a sink of this size. Make sure that you plan for approximately twelve inches around the sink to eliminate the fear that you will lean on the sink a break it accidentally. If you are short on space you might want to consider either a pedestal or glass sink countertop instead.
Thirdly you want to think about how your new sink will be used. It is never a good idea to put a glass vessel sink into a bathroom that will be primarily used by small children. A bathroom which receives little use, such as a guest bathroom, is a good idea because the less traffic is sees the safer it will be.
